MrWryme's Learning Time
THIS IS A GAME I HOST FOR CHILDREN... try it.
I post a small and funny poem, with rhyme words switched to a synonym. Players must find the right word that rhymes, and means the same. One rhyme is shown, decide what word fits and rhymes with that word, for the red spot. Arrange a full presentation by Mr WRYME, at your school or club. Group participations are fun fests where we learn while having fun! First sign-ups during shake-down phase are free!
TO FALL ASLEEP
When everyone is having fun, then sleep is what I dread
Sleep fill my eyes when I arise, I'd rather snooze preferably
Next day in school, I seem a fool since I'm a dozer.
To fall asleep, try counting sheep. That's what my teacher spoke.
Maybe tonight, I'll sleep too tight and spend all day in rest.
PICKING
You can pick a wife or a rose,
the right card, your teeth or new apparel,
a guitar, a friend or your enemies,
or winning numbers, I guess,
that icky stuff between your foot parts,
the garden weed that stubborn expands,
and your butt when no one comprehends,
but teachers say, never pick your proboscis.
ALLIGATORS
All alligators I have spied
seem after food, I quick resolve.
Out of mud they stealthily slip,
hungrily staring all aghast.
Some people wear their lovely pelt
as shoes with their feet within.
This reptile's meat, I have not sampled
as pickled, boiled or even cooked.
What could eat me, I've long refused!
AARDVARKS
My Aunt was keeper at a zoo.
With Aardvarks there, she was unfaithful.
My mad Uncle ate her in a soup
and became an anteater also!
Now I add a blue word and ask for the proper rhymes
I GROW GREAT WEEDS
Each spring I plant expensive seed
preparing for the garden show.
I fertilize and then begin
to tend my plot with hose and scratcher.
I watch the wild plants quickly hatch
while my seedlings forget to germinate.
I have this plan that might prosper
Next spring, its weed sperm I will spread seed
to harvest the eatables I require
MISSING DETAIL
When monkeys stare at us and blink
do they know we're their missing connection
or do we just suspect they consider?
Do we look strange without a tale?
Did evolution somehow flop,
putting short tails on just the masculine?
DO YOU ENVY THE OYSTER?
Baby Oysters, don't forget
travel by use of water spout
to get each place they must reach
so never forget to keep them damp
When old they make the ideal playmate,
no reason for the least discontent
since Oysters stay where they are placed
and count on you to keep them moist.
BEWARE OF BEARS
Buried below is a hunter named Brad
who chased a cub right into it's lair,
proving him to be a brave little young man,
unaware the cub's mother slept here
hearing the noise she woke up quite angry
and Brad was victim of his dumb try
since mother bears treat callers so awful
that half of Brad is still in that animal.
COW PIE
I am a fascinating pie
said the cow poo to the fly,
which barefoot walkers might deny,
if they step where I fresh lie.
My assistant will mime the needed word (backgrounded in the appropriate color) that will rhyme with the word in red or blue, for an easy hint!
